Asbury Park Summer Enrichment Program

WAGE - International completed the second year of its Summer Enrichment Program in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in July 2014. The goal of this program, was to create a mentoring partnership in a friendly, supervised environment for students of Asbury Park Middle School within the school premises. Lesson plans featured role models like Martin Luther King, Jr, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Malala Yousafzai.

In the summer of 2016, we were able to implement a similar program in Woodbridge, where college students helped to apply a lesson plan designed by the school district. Moving forward, we are hoping to replicate these programs in other school districts who are receptive to supplemental instruction and enrichment. Therefore, we are seeking individuals to mentor and work with children ages 11-14 years. Individuals selected to mentor  will assist and provide enrichment activities centered around continued academic success.  Individuals will also engage youth with learning life skills such as teamwork and leadershipas well as the basic education of notable civil rights figures.

Individuals must be above the age of 18 and are needed in the following areas:

  • Stress management skills
  • Tutoring
  • Story Telling
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Computer Skills/Research Skills
  • Self-expression skills through art

If you have further questions, experience in any of the above, or you have an area that you wish to explore within the program parameters please reach out to:
